Saigon - A day trip to the Coconut Kingdom in Ben Tre (L)
08:00. You will be picked up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon) to start your visit to Ben Tre, the heart of the Mekong Delta. Travel by private car along some scenic countryside roads. This area is commonly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, famous for its vast rice fields, orchards, coconut trees, and numerous waterways.
10:30. After approximately a 2.5-hour drive through lush farmland, arrive at Mo Cay Nam District, Ben Tre Province. From the pier, board a motorized boat to visit a unique floating market where only one product is traded. Here, everything relating to the coconut can be bought, from fresh coconut, coconut fiber, coconut wood to handicrafts and candies made from coconut. A chance to explore activities along the shore, including visiting a local coconut workshop where you will have a chance to talk with the locals and understand how they use every part of the coconut in handicrafts and making confectionary.
We then sail across the Co Chien River to Ho islet, a haven from the city chaos, which is without electricity. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at Ba Phi house which includes fresh ingredients picked from the garden.
In the afternoon, visit Vu Minh Garden. Experience a number of fun local activities such as riding a sampan, fishing, or playing on the swings. Sample coconut juice, local dried fruits and tea. Next, we follow a small trail to Hai Trai house to visit a herbal garden where you can treat your feet to a traditional herbal foot dip.
Back to the shore and to your private vehicle for the return to Saigon.
